the sugar cookie crumbles of itinerant day
delight the wandering babies still at play
in the country of their mother's arms.
who will defend them from unwaranted harm
when the whole world is foreclosed on.
the sugar cookie crumbles and I don't know
why the only roof they have here is the sky blue sky
how long can they sustain this
when the summer birds fly
and would they could go with them
where the sun is butterscotch shining
and there are no lies
