under a blackberry sky
where the wild winds fly
we said our prayers
with the floppy eared dog
way under the bed
with the taffeta spread.
don't touch the piano!
our Grandmother said
don't stand near the Picture Window!
we complied.
is God mad, we wondered
without speaking this aloud
while the dog whined
wilder than the wind.
and clouds split in two.
not really, a something inside
of us said and we were glad;
just a tad dramatic.
