Pink Paper With A Scalloped Edge

pink paper with a scalloped edge!
oh can we rise to your occasions
and pen something memorable?

or shall we leave you blank
like a sheetcake frosted
with no name on a name day;

pristine, set aside for a party
that simply doesn't occur.
then let there be also

the pink and gold balloons;
the jewels concealed in the party favors.
the fruited punch with its

early april sherbet snows.

and the one rose blooming out
from a landscape of prisms
(when you shade your eyes;

from an unknown chrism.
