this is the tale where the fire won't burn
the rain won't quench
the rose won't bloom
the piano won't tune
the cat won't sing
the bell won't ring
the heart won't beat
the feet aren't fleet
the hands are stilled
to work their will.
the kettle sighs
at all the lies
the tea won't brew
there is no cue
the stage is dark
the play departs.
