quoting the white (cabbage) butterflies
(will you?) (in your poem)
or the ubiquitous yellow
let them land (the former)
on cabbage roses
or on you, in your 1940's dress
with the cabbage roses flourishing there
in a worn out print sentimentally worn
or let the saffron coloured
light on buttercups, sunflowers
those of the self same hue
and let the blue sky lift
blue tinted clouds away
in these, our monochromes
today or shall it be,
always?
