Opening Day

the bookless library opened...
with room to spare
in a beautiful building beyond compare

ah cried the kingdoms everywhere

a library without books
what an innovation
let our name be honored

among the nations
who had the imagination to see
you don't need books in a library

and I turned away for awhile from them
and found my way to the way back when
a child in love with the least word grew

in love with books and the pictures too
in love with the place where they were free
in colorful bindings and just for me

ah no I said and went my way
back home to weep for the opening day
of the Library of great renown

where few if any, books were found.
