In School Or Out Of It

today we learned the properties of metals
the symbol for fine gold
the patterns of the stars that are not moving

around the globe.
and I measure the circumference of nothing
and demonstrate the quiet in my head

to those who think it's better to be louder
and say again what I already said.
so I'll go on tomorrow and tomorrow

and pray to God to find a way to be
enamoured so of all of His creation
and hiding scars from what they did to me.
