It Isn't The Way You Stand And Dream

it isn't the way you stand and dream
never becoming part of the background
in the painting

that makes you stand out in the gallery
the one whose ceiling is starlight.
so that children point at you and

gesture there is someone there
a lady the grownups cannot see
and she is smiling in cornflower blue

a nimbus above her head
looking off into far distances
and this is the way you stand and dream

and infinity is your field of vision\
and children wonder, is she cold
in only a sea green shawl

the dress of blue
what if it, were you from the long ago
and somehow you were stranded there

where trains run no longer
like the snow child only never melting
and now they think of you as a shrine

and lay blue flowers at your feet
your feet
that are bleeding Time.
