"After the first death, there is no other." Dylan Thomas
tonight we woke up shining
like we did on Christmas Eves
as in the poem by Robert Louis Stevenson
why would we go to sleep
with the sun still in the sky
the sun still in our eyes
so that we frown and fidget in the family
summer photographs
but we were in the winter of the world
and that's the last thing I heard
the earth's eclipse
and centuries passed/ sad ceremonies.
and then at last after all of this passed
after pallid dreams
too many funereal skies,
tonight, we woke up shining.
how can the mystery be described
or ever put into words
speech after long silence Yeats
once said is good...our Dorothy said
the birds in the emerald trees.
