When Consciousness Returns

when consciousness returns to the semi precious lands
and we dress in apricot pink sashed again
and eat fresh raspberries on a whim

in little silver bowls on snowy cloths
so that Sunday rings in sugared every week
the New Year and the confetti raining down

we will rejoice with evergreen and spruce
and in the town with the small fresh rolls,
the rosy clouded mountains see

when we read again
of Heidi far from the city

rejoicing with the Grandfather
the skies spangled with stars
and blind Grandmother can hear again

the stories of our only Shepherd and Friend
can feel the trebled chimes of the rising winds
can dream and we dream too

wreathed with flowers
as though we had won everything back again
from time that cryptic Thief

and stood in our fresh petticoats
in the old rooms
the jeweled kingdoms heaped up

all around us.and shining
