Dream Half Uttered Over The Moving Tide

winning the right to be blown away by the hurricane
I spent my raffle winnings carefully
on a brand new candy jar and last Easter's jelly beans

guess how many I said to the winds at hurricane force
they did not answer me
so I turned the dial on my Micky Mouse watch

my grandparents gave me in the 1950s
and I was free in my very own time machinie
and the tidewaters subsided.

Ill make pies in the mud
and cakes after three days in the pink easy bake
Betty Crocker oven

and we'll drink pretend tea
and talk a bit of you and me
and ignore the dissolving worlds.
