will we dress in cherry velvet there
finding our wishes where we dropped them
the speckled robins eggs that shade of blue
will we have ice cream in every shade and will it no longer melt
no matter how high
the sun gets in the sky and will the snow stay too
even among the apple blossom blooms
will we never cry get spankings
can we eat as much chicken pie as we want
will Grandfather come to pick us up
from dime store revels by the perfume counter
in his pale blue Ford Galaxy 500
while we sing Carols from the Firestone records
or all pile into the car on our way to the 1964 Worlds Fair
and take another tour of it, this time not missing a thing
oh I like to think so!
and that we will win all the emerald rings from the gum ball machine.
and wear our best dresses all Spring.
