how pursed lipped the moderns were about God
I almost wonder why they bothered speaking of Him at all
their half pennies flung into a rat's corner.
I on the other hand want to say Yay God for all the colours
candy canes, universal delights, the ripe fruit on the gold sequined
bough of my imagination stippled with caramel the long range vision
in every fairy tale's cupboard flung open I love you and I love you
I will stand out in the rain making my costly chalk paintings of you
on all the sidewalks and not even care if the rains gully wash them
away because I know you will have them by heart and hold them dear
and not a lost art at all
in a lightning flash instant.
