you're thinking its just another bread and butter day
when Santa crashes down and all his reindeer, sleigh
right on top of city hall when there's no one there at all
and you've got a cough no syrup can mend,
and the mind bends start,
in the middle of the day
it's getting dark
and the Martians come to stay
and your out of bread
the dog's not fed
and the wash is on the line
it happens every time
and the deluge is about to start
take heart
go team
and the bus has broken down
an ice storm hits the town
and the grocery store is closed
there's a tickling in your nose
and you think you're gonna sneeze
like a hurricane breeze
that blows us all away
and I think it's time to pray
then the cat comes in
and paws at your chin
and then you're wide awake
and it's all been a mistake
and you suddenly feel so grateful.
