LOVELY THE HOUR WHERE SILENCE REIGNS
Lovely the hour where silence reigns
Over the valley and over the plain
Even the shadows hold curious light
Birds in their slumber still dreaming of flight
There in the hallowed wood
Where I once played
Memories of pines and the deep summer shade
Cheer me and douse me with cool summer rain
Dripping from leaves that are fragrant again.
Why should I fret through the noise of today
When easily I can step back away
Child of the woods and the quartz bright play
Charmed and beguiled
by the joy of late May.
Secretly secretly
Sweet hidden power
To rush in deep memory
Through earliest flowers.
