POETRY IS STRONGER THAN DEATH
In long ago China it must be remembered
Court poets in exile sent messages into the ether
About the plum blossoms
How they scattered in the early snow
And somehow it was inferred
All beauty passing away bears this image.
And this I remember
I caught in the silver nets of dream
Through having read them in my girlhood
Above the rattling change of dynasties
And regimes.
