THINGS WILL FALL AWAY
Things will fall away
Like snow from the pines in early Spring
Songs that you forget to sing
Words will fall into echoing
Then into a glistening silence
You will stare into the skies of uncomprehending blues
And think I used to feel differently about you
Now though, there are skies within
And I know what sky is just by looking inward
Will the winter be long the mind asks the heart
And the heart does not reply.
The mind grows anxious.
We are leaving everything now or soon
Says the soul in its own phase of its own moon
And we weep suddenly without knowing why
And know that everything seems a goodbye
And the mirror reflects a different space and time.
When we won’t be here at all.
