YOU SHOULD KNOW
You should know
I said to myself in a somewhat sleepless night
Even though you slumber not
And thoughts are fraught
Like false alarms
Somewhere the aurora borealis lives
And crickets sing themselves to sleep
Small animals burrow
The stars sing over the wide prairies
And in the morning
The skies will be filled with the colours
Of wild roses and iris.
