THE PARROT IN THE MOVIE DOESN’T LOOK THE SAME
So many times it happens as Im reading
That the parrot on the pirate’s shoulder
In any seaworthy tale is always the same shade
Of green
Maybe even the same parrot
And I wonder how this parrot keeps living past
The age you would expect it to
In my imagination
Sometimes the parrot bites the pirate’s fingers
I think to myself why he Is always in such a bad mood
Well really, the pair of them
Oh now there is a mutiny on board
And the parrot gleams on deck
The pirate thrashing about in the water
The parrot once again bright eyed
Not a reliable narrator
But a reliable image.
So consistently a guacamole shade.
