EVERY NIGHT OF THE WORLD
Every night of the world
We are falling off in our sleep
Into the mysterious
Deep and soundlessly
We wear new slippers
On a different not so terra firma
Softly learning to say goodbye
Beginning perhaps the long instruction period
And glide like a soul beginning to be
Innured to our distress
Let colors wheel by
And the infinite skies
No longer home or bit by bit
Weaned from it
To wander where the wind
Is causing the stars
to blink
As we blink back tears
Already missing earth
Toddling toward God and
Full of uncertain mirth
