starting a flower garden in your room
you begin to water the walls then the rains come in
to help you, small leaves grow
tomatoes glow a little surprised to be there
have some salad! pluck a rose.
there's more where that came from
how soft the petaled carpet feels beneath your feet
and perfumed sleep and now the winds blow through
and now the ceiling's blue and clearing
the small birds sing near the radiator
and the newborn cherries.
and you no longer get groceries
of a Saturday.
