The Instant You Pass Away

the  bluebird sonnet and the punctured sky
the orphaned snow
the images that come and go

never settling
were we settlers too
or did we roam

forgetting the bluebird sonnet
scraping the snow off forevers
so that you wake up someone else

and not the one they knew
when they were leaving too
its hard to understand

what vanishes
what stays the same
what dissolves in rain

in languages suborned,
the instant
you pass away
