I Went To Sleep In Another Language

I went to sleep in another language.
first it was silver; then gold.
the tree of that language shone

in glaced fruits we gathered.
in that country all stones were gemstones

how deep its roots went
none of us were sure

how far into starlight.it endured;
I slept that language
and could not awake.

for the sake of its fairy tale never ending
and lived that way on the subways, buses
all the trains.or while sorting groceries.

standing in the rains.

I was that language for the span that was my span.
I was that silver and gold.
and dreaming beyond meaning, rational seeming

of God and man<
\I still am.
