At Court With The Emperor In The Darwinian Dusk

the jeweled firmaments and all of that inlay
from the intiricate hand of God in a modern day
they like to throw shade on

or they say the skies made themselves, the stars too
remember who you are, Forever Skeptical
you'll sign all letters, sit in the seats assigned

argue before the Bar

blind blind to Beauty who am I to say
call me stupid, anyway
I know I did not make myself.

long may you wave oh flags of indisposition furled
on some stage far from me.
have you enjeweled yourselves,

at whose expense? can you cause the future tense
are you the tick and the tock
the clock, the Clcckmaker too?

at whose behest
I know I'm no fit Wedding Guest but

I wouldn't be you for anything
so what if I am poorly dressed
how do you sing oh jeweled jeweled bird

the Emperror's favorite

while the real bird is flown
or so they say
who think they own

it on its way
in charge of all decrees.
