at the bottom of the screen
the weather updates itself
it's after midnight and 51 degrees F
and mostly cloudy
you can see a light blue fluffy illustrating cloud
hiding a quarter of a moon, not even dime sized
but what I thought if the next time
I look down I suddenly see
due to increasing fatigue
51 degrees and double rainbows
51 and a half and emerald winds over the plains
52 degrees and a blue monsoon
53 degrees and the moon has lost the trees
54 and snow has covered the sun
55 are we really still alive
a person needs to sleep
you have to confess
students need their rest
old people too
or if, tomorrow, you've got a job to do
or else the weather will look
really strange to you
the wind careening from Zanzibar
the earth off its axis
and tumbling.
and under your chair, it's rumbling.
GO TO SLEEP!!
