MY SISTER WAS LIKE A CHARM
My sister was like a charm
On the bracelet of the sun
My baby sister
Grandmother gave us yellow gold bracelets
My sister was the tiny hinged piano
That was her soul to me finally and the treble clef as well
She was all music
She was made of It from the beginning
Toddling out in her apricot Easter dress
That matched mine
But which she wore
Like a diffident jonquil
You could only adore.
Later when she had words
The flower talked and said to me
With a rosebud pout
You are only 18 months older.
I laugh to remember and the laugh
Turns into music too.
