TRAIN
Freight train
On the plain
Puffing against the big skies
You are gone
This railroad song
Im singing still for you
Banjo strung
Church bells rung
Almost gone
Old railroad song
mountain pass
tunnel through
toy trains Im
in love with you
all the figures along the track
children waving
oh come back
tiny shrubs and old downtowns
brick by brick you whistle round
keeping us still looking back
yellow freight train on your track
clothes out on the laundry lines
flapping in the breeze of time
farmers plowing in the fields
and ghost towns, losing their appeal
oh railroad sounds
from long ago
why is it that you haunt me so
